This MotoMaster Battery Charger and Battery Maintainer helps optimize the performance and lifespan of your battery with selectable charging modes. The 1 or 4 amp charge rates allow you to charge batteries from 5 to 80 ampere-hours and maintain up to 400 ampere-hour batteries. The reconditioning mode can be used periodically to restore capacity loss from sulphation or stratification. Safety protections on this car battery charger include reverse polarity, short circuit, open circuit, overheat, overcurrent and overcharge functions.

A: This charger is tested and rated to work at a minimum temperature of -20ºC. As it has not been tested beyond -20ºC we cannot assert its capabilities beyond that temperature. Note that battery charging at such extreme cold temperature is basically ineffective as the chemical reaction that is the charging process just doesn’t happen easily when a battery is so cold (which is why battery charger manufacturers don’t build/test their chargers at such extreme temperatures).

Q: Removed both 12V batteries from my vehicle. For both batteries, unit 'charges' (green light @ 75%) for two minutes then switches to flashing warning light. Why?

A: RE: Canadian Tire response --- I too have read the troubleshooting manual. It says nothing about green charge lights followed by flashing amber after 2 minutes.

Q: Is this unit able to charge and maintain Lithium Ion batteries for my ATV? If so what mode should I use? Will this damage my Lithium Ion Battery?

A: If your ATV is electric, then no, it won’t work for you. You’ll need to go to the dealer and get the correct charger for your machine. If your ATV is gasoline powered and the battery is 12v for starting purposes then this charger should charge the battery just fine. I’d use the 4A standard setting. I would not attempt to use the battery repair system on a Lion battery.

Q: Doit -on débranché les pôles de la batterie pour utiliser ce type de chargeur, dans mon cas c'est pour garder la batterie bien rechargé, car j'utilise le véhicule occasionnellement sur de courte distance.

A: Non ce n'est pas nécessaire de débrancher les pôles. Si ta batterie a été mis a plat (complètement déchargé)quelque fois il est possible qu'elle soit résistive genre semi-court circuit. Si tu devrais la remplacé je te recommande une batterie "Motomaster Éliminator AGM" , ce model est plus résistant contre les décharge accidentelles. Sur de site Can Tire si tu fais une recherche auto, batterie , il vont de demander ton model et l'année de l'auto. Ensuite il vont te proposer 3 model de batterie, la AGM est malheusement la plus cher des 3 mais elle sera plus durable et ce sera mieux pour l'utilisation que tu en fait.

Q: Bought this to maintain my 12v ATV battery. (It says on the battery 1.4Amps 5-10hrs charging. Can I leave this on over the week at 1Amp setting? Will this damage the battery? Thx in advance for your answers.

Q: I have had this unit charging two brand new deep cycle 6v batteries connected in series for months on my bench. Will this harm the batteries. Secondly why would the unit display a flashing red light all of a sudden after many months

A: The unit should not be flashing red. There is a bad connection or the unit is malfunctioning. I find you can leave the unit plugged in with the batteries with no damage and no overcharging.

A: I have used it to charge my two 6 volt RV battery in series over the winter with no issues. I have also charge two 12 volts RV batteries in parallel without any problem. This is a good charger to charge and maintain your RV batteries if its 6 or 12 volts.
