Q: is the breaking strength 3000lbs per set or each strap

A: The breaking strength for each strap is 3000 pounds - BUT the actual safe working load is 1000 pounds for each strap. 3000 pounds is when it rips apart. Always know the break/safe difference for each strap you use because you could cause damage to whatever it is you used to have hanging up, used to have in the back of the truck, used to have on the trailer etc. If it fails in traffic and hits another vehicle your insurance company is going to express its unhappiness with you for about 7 years! As a general rule safe working load is 1/3 of breaking load. And if you have a cut or fray on the strap - the safe load goes down a lot - a 2mm cut in a strap will reduce break load by about 20%.

A: The new product under the MotoMaster brand can be taken out of the packaging by simply cutting the tire wire. Unfortunately, if the product is under the SmartStraps brand, you will need to take the product out by forcibly ripping the packaging

Q: Do they come in orange? I bought some last week at the Kanata store, but all they had were blue straps

A: Going forward all of our Heavy Duty Straps will come in orange. Depending on your store location you should be able to purchase the 0402691 in Orange throughout the end of 2013 or into the early months of 2014. Both colours of 0402691 are the same product and can be used to perform the same tasks. Thank you for your question and for shopping at Canadian Tire.
