This mix makes it easy to grow strong orchids with big, colourful blooms. Potted orchids require a highly specific environment: they can only tolerate so much moisture before their roots begin to rot. Apply too little moisture, though, and all the leaves will pucker. Miracle-Gro® Orchid Potting Mix 0.17-0.05-0.11 is specially formulated to give your orchids better airflow and faster drainage, creating the exact environment they need.

Q: I bought two bags and found they had fungus gnats after replanting. Now I am dealing with an infestation. What can I do?

2 Answers

A: Try using fly cards or paper to catch the adults and to kill the larva (they live in the damp and decaying substrate) cut back on watering for a bit. I would try getting some more substrate (drier if you can) and repotting your orchid/ affected plants and throw out the old stuff to cut off further breeding. If you want some more info on orchids try the American Orchid Association; they have some great material in general but also specifically about these pests.
