Q: Is the soil good for citrus plants? I see an image of a lemon plant on the front, but nothing saids it's good for citrus?

A: Miracle-Gro Cactus Potting Mix can be used for citrus plants including Meyer Lemon or Calamondin orange trees. While raw materials depend on the region of manufacture, they are specially selected to provide for excellent drainage and to prevent soil compaction. An example of this is perlite. The mix is slightly acidic which is suitable for both citrus and cactus plants. The fertilizer in the the mix means that you don’t have to fertilizer while the plant adjusts to the stress of re-potting.

A: Miracle Gro Cactus Potting Soil is designed for succulents. The product contains: Composted Forest Products, Sphagnum Peat Moss, Sand, Perlite, Wetting Agent (to help soil absorb water) and Fertilizer.

Q: can it be used for other plants that prefer sandy fast draining soil? I want to grow strawberries. I hear they prefer sandy and fast draining soil, but I have been unable to find a soil specifically for strawberries. I was wondering if I could mix some of this with my potting soil.

A: Strawberries will grow well in our line of Miracle Gro Potting soils.However if you wish, potting soils may be mixed with other potting soils. Alternatively you can use Miracle-Gro perlite to increase the drainage in an existing potting mix.

A: This is not the best soil for orchids. Orchids prefer a soil with bark. This soil contains sand which is preferred by most succulent plants. We suggest the Miracle Gro Orchid Potting Mix.
