This product is very thin and watery with little to no actual tung oil as an ingredient. Will never use again.

UNKNOWN WHAT PERCENTAGE IS ACTUAL TUNG OIL

Labeled as TUNG OIL. However, not only is it not pure Tung Oil, there is no indication what percentage is actually Tung Oil and no information on what has been added to dilute the oil. Deceptive marketing at it's best. I used about $600 a year on Minwax products but now, knowing I cannot trust their product labeling I will find another, honest, brand.

Great product! Easy to apply and looks great!

I love this product. It gives a beautiful finish, and I can apply as many coats as needed to get the look I want. I usually apply about 6 coats to get a nice even semi-gloss finish on pine.
I used this product to finish a pine countertop that I made in our downstairs bathroom, and my wife loved the look of it so much that she asked me to strip the BIG kitchen table top I had made years ago, and refinish it with this product.
I like that I can apply it easily with cheap dust-free cloths and have no brush marks, and that I can simply coat it again as needed over time due to wear.

Q: Can this be used on a butcher block or in place of butcher block oil.

A: Unfortunately not. Pure Tong oil can be used for this purpose as it is food safe but this product is not pure Tong oil. When I purchased this product I thought it was Tong oil and was disappointed that the marketing is misleading.

Q: Would this protect a dining room table? Would it change the colour of recently stripped and sanded wood?

A: We used for outdoor Cedar barn shed door. Colour stayed true. It has been about a year.

Q: Can I apply this to a maple butcher block style countertop? Can I apply a polyurethane over top once this is dry?

A: Thank you for your question. You can use the polyurethane over the Tung Oil Finish, however you will need to sand so the urethane can adhere, which will remove some of the Tung Oil Finish. Ideally we would recommend you use one or other. Sincerely, L.T., Customer Support Specialist

Q: can you use this tung oil to seal the hardwood floor? how much does it take to seal 600-700 sq feet? and how many years will it last?

A: I don’t believe Tung Oil would be an acceptable flooring finish. It will not be a hard enough finish and would not put up with the abuse it would see.

Q: Can this product be mixed with a true spar varnish? I want to reseal a cedar carving. Carver recommended a mixture of 2/3 spar varnish with 1/3 tung oil.
