Stain pre conditioner

It only partially stopped blotchiness when staining pine and made it quite difficult to get a dark tint to the stain after the pre treatment, even with multiple coats

I was building a small gate using basswood and knew it would be blotchy if I just used stain. This product worked very well to even out the stain. One thing I learned was to make sure to use enough of this product otherwise it can still be blotchy. I kept putting it on the wood until it didn’t soak in anymore, then I wiped it off and let it dry. That did the trick and gave good results.
