Metabo HPT 18V Brushless 6-1/2-in Deep Cut Circular Saw, Bare Tool

It’s not a heavy-duty framing saw, but for cutting plywood, 2x4s, trim, and light construction materials, it handles the work smoothly—without the hassle of a cord. I picked this up as part of my growing Metabo 18V tool setup and use it mostly for home renovation projects—building shelves, cutting boards to size, and trimming down plywood. It’s a left-blade saw, which I prefer since I’m right-handed; it gives a clear line of sight to the cut line. The brushless motor helps keep it efficient and extends battery life—I usually get through a few cuts of 3/4" plywood or a bunch of 2x4s before needing a recharge (using a 3.0Ah battery). The cutting depth is generous for a 6-1/2" saw. It’ll go through 2x lumber in a single pass with no problem. I’ve also used it for ripping down sheet goods, and with a good blade, it leaves a clean edge with minimal splintering. The saw has plenty of power for typical homeowner projects and doesn’t bog down unless you push it too fast through thicker or wet material. It’s lightweight and easy to handle, which makes it great for overhead cuts or working off a ladder. The electronic brake is a nice safety feature—it stops the blade quickly once you release the trigger. The bevel adjustment goes up to 50°, and the lever is easy to use. I’ve used it for bevel cuts on trim and angles for shelving without any issue. There are a few trade-offs. Since this is a bare tool, you’ll need to already have Metabo HPT 18V batteries and a charger. Also, the dust ejection isn’t great—it tends to blow sawdust off to the side but doesn’t collect much. There’s no built-in dust port, so expect a mess on bigger cuts unless you’re outside or near a vac setup. The blade visibility is decent but not amazing in dim light, as there’s no LED. Not a huge deal, but something to note. Overall, the C18DBALQ4 is a solid cordless circular saw for general home projects. It’s not a pro-tier framing saw, but for cutting dimensional lumber, plywood, and trim materials, it does the job well. It’s especially useful if you already have other Metabo HPT tools and batteries. The saw is lightweight, easy to control, and powerful enough for most homeowner needs.

I was so surprised how much power this battery-powered circular saw had! I was able to make deeper cuts on thicker stock than my corded saw could make. Very easy to hold and control, as it is lightweight for what it can do!
