Failed on Fourth Use

Bought this unit may 4 years ago and had it in the basement, I used it maybe 4 times. I was using it today as I was sanding a wooden island for the kitchen and the vacuum started to smoke an stink. I shut it off and unplugged it, I could see the smoke rolling off the unit for a few minutes. I took IT outside to be safe, let it sit for a while and went to try it again. Nothing. I checked the breaker and it was good.
The thing would not run.
The fine filter was not really dirty and there was no visible damage.
I was very disappointed as Maximum is normally CTCs top level brand and is usually reliable.
Not this time,
No, I do not recommend this product.

054-0251-4 Maximum 19L Portable Vacuum

054-0251-4 Maximum 19L Portable Vacuum I purchased this vacuum with good expectations with the ability to use a collection bag. However you can't buy the proper replacement bags. The replacement bag as per the manual is CTC#054-0212 but that bag is actually 3" higher than the bag that came with the unit. It is nearly impossible to cram the larger replacement bags into the vacuum box. After numerous tries to source the proper bags and not succeeding I'll take advantage of the 90 day satisfaction guarantee and return it for a full refund in hopes of finding something I can actually get replacement bags for. Too bad actually because it is a quality vacuum but if you can't get replacement items for it why bother.
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: This is such a powerful vacuum that water becomes an air-born spray. that then escapes out the air vent .I wanted this to work for small carpet cleaning, no go after many attempts, returned.

Q: Question, how fast does it suck up water from the floor. Have had a hose come out of a sink from a portable washing machine & the water went into the living room. Need a vac that can suxk up water in about 2 minutes or less.

A: Just friction fits over the inlet. Personally I would use tapre or something to fix it in place. I returned this vac because it was overpowered and always bypassing.

Q: Can you tell me how I can get Regular Cartridge Filter (054-0164) to fit this vacuum. It is an inch too high and the fastener will not connect. You need to get better information on this vac and filters that fit.
