Good radio but lacking where it needs it.

Straight to the important bits. Pros, Long battery life on a 4.0Ah 20V battery. I got about 40 hours out of it at medium volume. Loud! It throws out a ton of audio. At full chat there is a bit of distortion but its not bad. In -40 weather the digital display is still readable which is a plus. Chunky dials make it easy to work with even with gloves on. All digital with a seek function to the next station. Rubberized antenna is short but durable and seems to pick up perfectly. Cons, The entire radio feels cheap and is made of hard plastic I dont feel is robust. The dials on the side are in a place where theyd be easily damaged by a fall or rough handling. The speaker is poorly protected, you can get a finger in there and touch the speaker cone. Its definitely not waterproof as the exposed speaker cone is just a paper speaker cone. And by far and a wide the biggest issue I have with it? It has a slot to hold your phone or MP3 player, it has an auxiliary cable for it as well. Perfect! Except it has no USB port on the unit at all for power, so there is no way at all to keep your phone or MP3 player topped up. Youd better have a full phone charge and be OK with wasting it should you be looking for a radio you can rock your own personal tunes on. Adding this wouldnt be a big leap given the massive capacity of the lithium too batteries it takes, and given that the radio isnt weatherproofed the exposed USB port shouldnt be a concern. For me, thats the one big detractor. If however you want just a good, robust radio you can leave on a workbench, move around easily, and have as a good excuse to keep an extra MAXIMUM lithium battery around should you need to steal it for your drill? It works fantastic. But in a lot of ways this isnt the type of rough and ready outdoor radio Id give to a construction crew. Maybe for guys who do drywalling or for carpenters this would be golden. Its just not something you really want to roughhandle.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Nice little jobsite radio

Nice little radio for the jobsite. The radio reception is above average for a radio, and the audio is good for a small unit like this. It's durable and withstood all the bumps and drops while working on site. Battery lasts a long time, but when you change it you have to tune your station back in (not a big deal).

Yes, I recommend this product.

Compact Design Runs on Battery

Great Jobsite Radio. It is a small compact design. It provides very loud music and runs for about 11 hours on a single fully charged battery. There are no presets, but its easy to change stations. Built out of solid plastic, its already taken some bumps and small falls. The Aux Jack plays from your phone or Ipod

Yes, I recommend this product.

good one

nice small radio. It will pull in weak stations even in a metal shop. A 2ah battery will last over 24hr at mid volume. When changing the battery it doesn't have a memory so you need to reset the station. The sound is what you get from a 4" speaker, It does come in clear from across the site. It has a input cable attached so you can listen to your own play list on a phone,I had an issue with the cable not long enough, on my phone the jack is located on the bottom, the tray on the radio isn't large enough to hold the phone so I had to just set it on the handle. I would have given the radio 5 stars if this had worked as it was designed.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Radio

Honestly i like the radio, I think is well made, have good volume considering the size. Uses very little battery and if you use it with the big 20V battery last for days without a charge. My only concern is that the cable that is located in the back for the aux will break easily. Im a little disapointed that the radio is so nice and is not bluetooth compatible. For the price I would recommend the Radio.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: What battery can be purchased for this radio and where can i purchase it?

1 Answer
  • A: If you already own a Maximum 20V tool, such as drill driver, impact driver, impact wrench, etc. you are able to use the same batteries from these kits to operate your Maximum 20V radio. If however, you have only purchased the 'bare' Maximum 20V radio, you can purchase a separate 20V battery, #54-3203 at Canadian Tire. However, again, if you do not own any of the tools identified, you will also need to purchase the Intelligent Battery Charger #54-3204.

Q: 3 questions does the maximum 20 v radio have smooth volume control like in the honda stereos in the car so you can turn the volume below 1?

1 Answer
  • A: The radio has a conventional volume control knob and does not have a digital readout for volume measure. Like most cordless, power tool branded radio options on the market it cannot be comparable to an automotive sound system.
