Good way to organize your stuff

I bought a couple of these in the past and got another one when it was on sale. It's an excellent way to organize various things, especially in the garage or your shed. The slatwall panels are fairly easy to install and fit nicely. They have a very clean and professional look as opposed to the DIY panels that you can easily build. The hooks are sturdy, and I hang heavier ladders to smaller items, and they are all hang on the wall with no issues. A couple of challenges are to match the stud with columns that hold the panels in place as it is not often that dry wall anchors work well. If you don't have a strong screw at either end, you can only hang lighter items. The other issue is the price. At regular price it is overpriced as you could build a DIY at a fraction of that price, but on a good sale/clearance it makes a lot of sense as it is much cleaner look.

Great product that's incredibly strong. There was a bit of a learning curve to getting the screws to bite into the track during install - just give them a tap with a hammer to get them started and it's smooth sailing from there. The finished dimensions aren't 48"x48"... closer to 48.5" wide by 49.5" high. I measured 48" from where I wanted it and it almost didn't fit at the ceiling because it was a little higher than expected. It might be beneficial to test fit it on the floor to get the actual dimensions before measuring the start line on your wall.
Otherwise a great product I am super happy with!

Q: THIS SYSTEM DOES NOT COME WITH ANY SCREWS, SO I WAS WONDERING WHETHER I CAN USE FLAT HEAD OR ROUND HEAD? IF I USE FLAT HEAD WILL THE COUNTERSINK CRACK THE PVC OR IF I USE ROUND HEAD THAN THE SCREW IS NOT FLUSH AND MAY INTERFERE WITH THE SLIDES OF HOOKS ALONG THE PANEL?

A: My kit came with 21/4" #8 round head Philips. These screws are terrible and stripped no matter what. Buy some good quality Robertsons and save yourself a headache.

Q: The j trims that came with my package are 48-3/8” each. The side pieces are to be cut to 48-1/2” which is therefore not achievable. How important is this measurement...will 48-3/8” be adequate or do I need to return this kit for one with proper lengths.

Q: Description says "rust resistant high-quality steel" I bought a starter set #8636 and the larger set #8678 2 years ago, going to finally install this weekend. Mine are PVC or some other type of plastic. When did the material change?

A: The Easy Install Track Panels have always been made from PVC materials (90% recycled). They have never changed. The "rust resistant quality steel" is talking about the hooks/ accessories included in the #046-8636 kit. Some of the heavy duty hooks have a protective rubber coating on them as well. The vendor does not make any plastic hooks.

Q: How do know where to locate the studs? And what are studs by the way? Thanks. I intend to install this panel in my basement but I don't know how to locate the studs. Can it not be holed in just like regular nails?

A: You definitely would need to use a stud finder to locate your studs - the only time you wouldn't need a stud finder is if you don't have any drywall up/ if you have open studs which are visible. A stud is the building foundation of your walls/ house. Studs are boards (normally wood) that function as framing elements in your home, supporting your walls. They're normally spaced 16 inches on-center (measured from center to center) along the wall. Drywall is attached over your studs to conceal them, and to create your walls. If you do not screw your panels into your studs you will not get the same weight capacity (75 lb/ sq.ft), and will not be covered by a guarantee. Using a stud finder: To use a stud finder, place the stud finder tool on the wall and turn it on. Slide the stud finder horizontally across the wall until the lights indicate the location of a stud and mark the point with a pencil.

Q: Can this be used on studs 12" apart? Does the PVC come pre-drilled for studs at 16" apart? The area we want to put this has studs 12" apart. Will drilling @ 12" compromise the PVC?

A: It is perfectly fine to install the pvc slatwall into studs that are 12" apart, the slatwall does not have pre drilled holes.

Q: I would like to install this in a room that is only 55 inches wide. I thought the slats were inserted one on top of each other but in the video, they appear to insert from the side. Will I be able to install this within my 55" confine?

A: The product comes with 4 individual panels, when stacked on top of each other, will make a 48 "wide X 20" panel.
