Slow speed only

I tried the 1/4” in my drill press but the speed was too fast, and started to burn. Put it in my variable speed cordless and ran it at quite a low speed and it worked fine.

Did the job

The plug cutter worked ok, though I had lots of false starts and it chewed up my wood quite a bit for some of them, but also I wasn't using it with a drill press. Finally got some usable plugs by starting in reverse, then switching to forward but going very slowly until I'd got down a bit, at which point I could safely increase the drill speed somewhat. Lots of trial and error, but in the end it did the job.
