Cord works well, but the pickup notification took longer than expected. The product itself is good, but the wait for pickup could be improved

Q: Hello, will this cord remain reasonably flexible in -20 -25 weather...cord application for a electric shovel? Thank you

  • A: Plastic cords are NOT flexible at temperatures below freezing. Just because it “works” as an extension cord (meaning it can potentially power something), does not mean you can bend it or move it. Ideally for temperatures less than 10 degrees C, you will want a rubber extension cord if you intend to be able to move it or flex it or bend it or roll it etc. Likewise, plastic also hates ultraviolet light including sunlight, and heat too. Plastic expension cords should only ever be used in summer for very brief usage, and kept indoors from ultraviolet light and heat. The big difference in chosing the right cord and the completely wrong cord are how much you wsnt to spend. For those wondering, the only thing that can make s plastic cord flexible at temperatures warm or cold… bad chemicals. This can include lead and cadmium. Wash your hands after touching any electrical vord that is not rubber! The less bad chemicals in the materials, the less flexible it turns out. The fact these are shattering when bent in the cold suggests that they probably have much less bad ingredients compared to older cords. They are therefore somewhat chemically safer for handling and the environment. Not for running a snow thrower that you intend to move though. Same thing when it comes to plastic shovels. You might as well decide what temperature each use corresponds with, and use a product that not only works, but can remain flexible at such a temperature. A swimming pool is still a swimming pool at temperatures below freezing, but the functionality of being a swimming pool and being one you want to use… very different things. Plastic extension cords are still great for running your electric lawn mower in summer. They are light, easy to clean, work, and csn also flex (in warm weather). You can litterally cut your entire lawn for about 15 cents of electricity versus 15 dollars worth of gasoline for the same area of coverage. Just don’t try to ude your electric lawn mowers as snow throwers as the motors will burn out trying. Not that I tried. Much.

Q: Can you use this as an extension cable with a mobile EV level 1 charger that plugs into the wall outlet? My mobile charger cable isn't long enough to reach the EV vehicle to charge at home from the house wall outlet without using an extension cord.

  • A: All electric cables, including extension cords, dissipate heat when current is drawn through them. Ehile plastic extension cords can have a rating of maybe 13 Amperes or more, it does not mean that the cord csn actually provide you with the full voltage potential at the end of it while it is powering a heavy load. On top of this, the heat given off by extension cords when loaded by more than 600 Watts of power, will eventually become less and less flexible with the exposure to the heat it gives off. Ideally, the best way to recharge an electric vehicle safely, is to use a charge station made correctly for this. The best delivers around 220 Volts at high current and uses a special cord. For chargers that run on the 125 Vilt line, the time to recharge is typically at least twice as long, and even longer with lossy cords. The longer a cord is, the longer it takes to charge from losing energy in the form of heat. The thinner the conductor wires are, the longer it  takes to charge from losing energy in the form of heat.  The best you can do to recharge an electric vehicle quickly is to first make certain you get the best system installed. Failing that, you want to use an extension cord that is safe and… has the thickest conductive wires possible, and… is the shortest length possible without compromising its integrity. You do not want the wire suspended because it is too short. You do not want it rubbing or wearing from friction. You do not want to ever run over it. Also, you never want the wire to be in contact with any flammable material. All wires can get extremely hot during use and will all fail in due time. Wires hate being bent and flexed, the same way we do not like being pulled around or suspended by our hair. All wires are to be treated with care regardless of type. The thicker the conductors (lower number of American Wire Gauge describes a thicker wire) deliver more of the energy than thinner wires do. They are also heavier. Likewise, the shorter a wire is, the less resistance it will have, more efficiently delivering its power with less distance proportional losses. Short snd thick wires are less lossy, so they recharge the electric vehicles faster. A 12AWG wire is a much thicker and therefore a better choice thsn a 14AWG wire, which is a much better choice than a 16AWG wire, which is too thin to recharge an electric vehicle efficiently. If you want your wire to be flexible at temperatures below freezing, look for one whose sheathing is made to flex at all temperatures in which you want to use the product. Typically a 12AWG rubber clad extension cord of a short distance will provide a nice and quicker charge than anything thinner. You can usually get an electrician to install your charger as close to the vehicle as possible using solid copper wiring approved for this purpose. Always read the safety and warning information referring to vehicle charging and cord types, and always use only the types of cords that are approved for this purpose. Also be certain the cord is not a fake and has a true CSA and Underwriters Labs approval. This helps reduce risks of many, but not all kinds. Safety first and fo not skimp to save a few dollars. Risking fire or shock or taking days to recharge a vehicle or voiding a warranty are reasons to follow manufacturer’s instructions and that of your home insurance as well. Good luck!

1 Answer
  • A: Hi 101101, please carefully read the instruction manual of pool filter first, it will tell you how to connect the power. Per our understanding, it's not suggested to use an extension cord for your unit to get power, please plug into an wall outlet and stay away from pool. Thank you.
