The Mastercraft Deluxe LED Stud Finder eases the process of finding the edge of wood and metal studs in drywall while also detecting live AC wires. This wall stud finder is able to detect studs up to 1 ½” (38mm) and live wires up to 2” (51mm). A blue backlit LCD screen provides superior readability while using this stud detector, and a V-shaped notch allows for easy marking of the stud edges that the wall scanner detects. LED indicators and an audio indicator allow for easy operation of the stud sensor. Compact and portable, this stud finder requires a 9V battery (sold separately).

Don’t buy

This was not a good stud finder. To many false positives. Followed all my steps to troubleshoot. Found my old one and returned this. Do not recommend.

A: There is a workaround: use two different depth sensitivity settings of this product, and experiment with some internal wall that you can see from behind, like your boiler room, to learn how this device behaves. Formally this device does not say metal from wood, but because it has to depth sensitivity levels, you can learn to differentiate what's behind the wall.

Q: Where is the instruction manual for this product? The instructions on the back of the package states "Read instruction manual for complete instructions" but there is no manual included and I can't find it anywhere online. Where can I find it?

Q: When I slowly drag the finder along a wall the Signal Strength Bars keep flashing. I believe when you hit a stud it is supposed to flash and then when you move it again it should go blank till you hit another stud. Mine is not doing that

A: See attached image for Operating Instructions. Make sure you are calibrating the stud finder before using (step 2) in order for it to work properly. Sometimes, you may accidentally calibrate it on a stud and that can cause issues. If problems persist, try calibrating at another point in the wall.

Q: I cannot seem to get the icon for Hi Sensitivity stud to appear. Any suggestions?

A: When you power on the unit, it'll start in low sensitivity mode. Click on the blue button quickly (don't hold) to switch the modes. A "+" sign will be shown in the box/stud icon when the unit has been changed to high sensitivity mode.
