A piece of worthless garbage

Bought and used for one small job. put in heated storage until the next time it was required. Internal seals blew out and no repair parts available. What a complete waste of money. So disappointed about the after the sale service. Canadian Tire purchases used to represent a quality investment....not any more.

I purchased the gun to do a small roof. Then it was in the garage for a few years. Needed to do a repair of some shingles lost during the bad weather and the gun won't fire anymore. Called the support line to ask where can I purchase o-rings to fix it and ... there are no spare parts for it. Was told that I need to buy a new one? LOL a gun per job? No thanks Matercraft Another tool to the pile of Masterjunk. Pen points to a hammer that does not work anymore.

Q: coil roofing nailer I am interested in your product 58-8179-2 and would like to know what type of nails it uses and if it can be used for roofing and also use 2 inch nails as indicated in the ad for walls and other application or just uses roofing nails. Also does Canadian Tire stock the nails for this product.

A: No, only 15 degree wire welded coiled roofing nails. But up to 2 inches in length. Only good for roofing or siding applications. Yes Canadian tire has the nails. They may be the bostich nails.

A: The single nail side means if you press the nail gun down and pull the trigger one nail will fire. You then have to release the trigger and pull it again to shoot another nail. The double nail side means if you continually hold the trigger, every time you touch the roof a nail will fire. Kind of an automatic mode.

A: Underlaying is tar paper, or ice and water shield, which is the minimum code now a days in may areas along the edge of the roof by eaves and on valleys. I used staples for my tar paper. Big heavy duty ones. I used the spales you wack like a hammer. Unless they make 15 degree coiled wire welded roofing nails with ringshanks then yes, other wise I would say no.

A: Its an air nailer, so If you have a small tank or compressor you can't fire a thousand nails at once. But you can use a very small compressor if you pace your shots. I have a 4.5 cfm at 90 psi and it kept up easy.
