Q: What is the size of thread to mount the hole saw? 1/2" or 3/8"?
6 years agoA: The mandrel in question is specifically designed to fit all Mastercraft branded Bi-Metal hole saws with a diameter of 9/16” through 1-3/16”. The mandrel screws into the top of the bi-metal hole saw. For larger diameter hole saws from 1-1/4” to 6” a different larger sized mandrel is required. The mandrel has a hex shank that will fit 3/8” or ½” drill chucks. While the thread of the Mastercraft mandrel is quite common if the consumer is asking about the thread to find out if a Mastercraft mandrel will fit another brand of bi-metal hole saw I would suggest that this is not recommended. Always use the mandrel recommended / supplied by the hole saw supplier to insure proper accessory performance and safety.
