This was easy to assemble alone (as a 5'3" person, not sure why some people said they needed 2-3 people). The instructions had a few typos, but was manageable. The shelf is held together by gravity, so moving it is annoying because you have to hold on to very specific parts (the bottom of the vertical) or else the shelf will break apart. It is also not difficult to take the shelf apart. To build a single shelf (not attaching it to another unit or to the wall), you'll need a rubber mallet (or in my case, a rolling pin). You don't need any power tools, screwdrivers, or any other tool. This was worth the $50 I paid for it. I'd say it could be "worth" up to $80.
