Nice grinder

I bought this grinder in 2019. Mastercraft angle grinder, 120 VAC, 9 A, 11,000 rpm, 1 grinding wheel, 1 cutting wheel. It is for home use, so I am not constantly grinding things. So far, it works well. The cutting wheel is 3 mm thick and the grinding wheel is 6 mm. The cutting wheel is mostly worn out and I bought a new one. I think it is 6.79$. I bought the grinder while it was on special for 49,99$. It is an important tool to have around the house.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Sorry for your experience, however, it is impossible for the tool to break it's own housing. For the housing to break it must have had an external impact.

Buy this to replace a 4½ generic brand grinder that died in the middle of a job. Used it today to finish the job (removing old paint that was partly chipping from a concrete porch with a steel brush - about 4' x 6'). Worked perfectly for the 2 hours it took me. Motor run smoothly even when applying some pressure, never got hot. very satisfied. Great deal (had a rebate when I bought it).

Questions

1 - 10 of 16 Questions

Q: This Angle Grinder come with 2 disks, one for grind and the other for cut. What type/purpose of disks are these? Can I cut concrete with this?

2 Answers
  • A: The discs that come with the grinder are intended for metal work. To cut concrete you would need to purchase a masonry disc. This option though is dependent upon the type of work you are doing. If you are doing a substantial amount of cuts or deep cuts, then it would be better to rent a tool specific to your job.

Q: Can I use flat cutoff disks with this grinder. The manual has a couple of references to wheel types: "Do not use Type 11 (flaring cup) wheels" "Depressed centre wheel must be used with included flanges", but does the "must" refer to wheel or to flanges?

  • A: I have used this tool primarily with the cut off discs so far with no issues. I do recommend using the guard at all times to protect from hand injury.

Q: I'm having trouble with my grinder and from the reviews & questions asked I believe the switch is faulty. I haven't used it much and would be a waste to toss it in the garbage. Do you have any suggestions or remedies?

1 Answer
  • A: Sorry that you are experiencing issues with the grinder. The switch was an isolated issue and did not affect all grinders. If the grinder is still within warranty you should return it to the store for a refund or exchange.

Q: can this tool cut 2" stone?

1 Answer
  • A: It is difficult to answer this due to the limited description of the task. With a proper blade, the tool can cut through different materials, e.g. for granite / cement, etc., you would require an appropriate cutting blade. However, it is not possible to comment on your particular task as there will be numerous safety considerations to take into account and the task itself may require appropriate training to accomplish.
