Not the greatest, but not the worst

Something is leaking air plugged it in filled it up within a couple days that air had drained out of the tank pretty high dollar for something that isn’t perfect. Definitely can’t keep up when using air tools even the small smaller ones like a air ratchet.

Q: Does this unit have a pressure switch? Mine fills up until the safety release valve opens. It won't turn off by itself.

  • A: I have this issue as well. It worked for my first couple uses, now the pressure switch doesn’t seem to work and the safety valve goes off. The manual doesn’t offer any recommendation aside from contacting the mastercraft help line.

Q: What is the sound level in dB of this unit? Thanks.

  • A: As per their stats above, 88db We use it indoors to run a few low volume pieces of machinery, it only runs every 5 minutes or so, however even in an insulated box we find it considerably louder than the 20 year industrial unit it replaced.

Q: Has anyone used this air compressor to sandblast? I would love to know if it works well

3 Answers
  • A: I wouldn’t use this to sandblast. The little compressor will be running non-stop and will never get a break. Blasters use.a PILE of air, plain and simple. This will not be up to the task. I have tried this on a similar sized compressor in the past. You will have moisture issues and will need a dryer as well. For blasting, get the largest compressor you can. I have an 80 gallon 17cfm @170 psi with a 2 stage pump. It will run a blast cabinet and a small pot blaster decently. This little master craft? Not a chance. This compressor would be good for pumping tires, short jobs on air tools, etc...not a blaster.

Q: Where can I get a new pressure safety valve? Mine appears to be faulty. Thanks.

  • A: @cheetahpro it's faulty because it was opening far below the max rated pressure (under 100psi). I simply replaced the valve.

Q: On the 8 gallon 1.5 hp compressor when it shuts off There is  no air releasing, and can’t locate the unloader valve which does this, for an easy start,  are you sure it comes with one ? If so, where is it exactly and can I purchase one? Blows breaker to

  • A: There is a air tank bleeder valve underthe tank near the front foot. It is a manual inline valve that will empty all the air from the tank. In addition to that valve there is a pressure release valve on top near the pressure gauge that will also release air.

Q: why do u think this unit [8 gallon air compressor 13 amp ]keeps tripping the breaker ...?doesn't seem to b much on the circuit..wondering about what

3 Answers
  • A: I started using a extension cord because I started using compressor outside my garage further down my driveway. Anyway it started running rough and tripping the breaker, (didn't do it before extension cord). So I got a heavier cord (12 gauge) and it seems to be running alright now.
