We used this new kit from Mastercraft for putting together some cabinets for a kitchen renovation, all the tools included played a great part if getting the job done and is a very good starter kit for anyone.

Here's my honest, straightforward review of the two Mastercraft products I received for free through the Butterly program (in partnership with Canadian Tire) as of late 2025. I'm a typical homeowner/DIYer not a pro tradesperson so this is from that perspective after a few weeks of real use on holiday projects, furniture assembly, small repairs, and organizing the garage. What I like: - The 83-piece accessory kit is the real MVP here tons of screwdriver bits, some drill bits, and extras. It's more than enough to get started without buying separate sets right away. Great bonus for a free kit. - The drill itself has decent power for homeowner tasks: assembling IKEA furniture, hanging shelves, installing curtain rods, light deck screws, etc. The 1-speed setup (no variable gears) keeps it simple, and the LED light (with afterglow) is surprisingly useful in dim spots. - The PWR POD battery system is convenient Canadas "universal" platform means you can share batteries with other Mastercraft/NOMA/Yardworks tools later if you expand. The 2.0 Ah battery lasts long enough for typical weekend projects (I got through a full day of furniture assembly without swapping). - Super easy warranty/exchange at any Canadian Tire store (3 years on tool/battery) peace of mind. - Again, free through Butterly? Massive win. This kit normally retails around $80120 on sale, and it's a legitimate starter setup. What could be better: - It's a brushed motor with only 1 speed, so it feels basic compared to modern brushless 2-speed drills from DeWalt/Ryobi/etc. Torque is adequate but not impressive it bogged down a bit on longer 3-inch deck screws into hardwood (had to pre-drill). - The chuck is okay but not the smoothest; bits sometimes need a little extra tightening. - The 2.0 Ah battery is on the smaller side by 2025 standards runtime is fine for light/medium use, but heavy drilling drains it faster than higher Ah options. - Build quality is "budget" plastic feels a bit flexy, and the ergonomics aren't as refined as pricier brands. I loved getting this,it was perfect loved the carrying bag and loved the color,I find it wasn't heavy so was perfect for a women like myself,as alot of tools r very heavy
