I haven’t used this compressor very often. I just spent almost 2 hours trying to pump up four bicycle tires! I got one up to 60, one up to 50, and two up to only 35. Sometimes after counting to 60 I would check the pressure and it had gone down instead of up! This happened several times. I was actually crying. No words can express how much I hate this compressor.

Built to fail

Wife bought this last year, after one year of use the pump cracked and can only fill up to 15psi now. We used it maybe a half dozen times, this must have been built to fail. Avoid this at all costs.

Cheap air compressor
I bought this about two years ago for my staple gun to do upholstery projects and other small projects. While it worked okay for awhile, it wasn’t very powerful. And the sound is so deafening that I had to wear noise cancelling headphones.
I went to use this last night for another project, it has been used less than ten times and it wouldn’t work. It runs but no pressure builds in the tank. Doesn’t seem to be a gauge issue and there don’t appear to be leaks so the compressor is not working. Taking it back to the store, hopefully they will honour the warranty. Not impressed.
No, I do not recommend this product.

We are disappointed to hear the compressor has not met expectations. There is a troubleshoot guide in the back of the owners manual. The store should be able to help, it can be fixed at any nearby service center.

Great size, fills quickly, good for small jobs
6 years ago
Ive had this compressor for about a year now, and have no complaints with it. I have used it to run a Brad nailer and finish a bedroom, and, fill ATV tires without issue. It is small a easily portable, so it can be brought from room to room for Brad nailing. As long as you understand that this is a small air, compressor for small jobs, it will serve you well.

Q: This afternoon it took me 1 1/2 hours to attempt to fill four bike tires. I finally got one tire up to 60 and one up to 50. On the other bike I could only get to pressure up to 35 in each tire. What could be wrong? I was driven to tears.

Q: Would this unit work to use on a small hobby paint air brush ?
1 Answer
A: It is always best to check the air tool requirement and confirms it matches or is less than what the air compressor provides. Generally speaking, the Mastercraft 2 gallon is fine to inflate bicycle tires, swim and snow inflatables and run a brad nailer. A continuous use tool, like a spray gun, normally requires a little more air power than this unit provides. You might want to look at the Mastercraft 3 gallon, 0581290 to get a better user experience.

Q: How long does it take to fill the tank the very first time you use it? Mine's been running 20 minutes and gauge still says 0. Did everything on the troubleshoot checklist.

A: The unit takes about 4 minutes to fill. If the drain valve is closed (no air coming from it at all) and all other trouble shooting ideas have been tried, the unit should be taken a a repair center to be reviewed.

Q: Will this compressor run a brad nailer, paint gun and the Canadian Tire sandblasting attachment? I have a larger compressor that isn't home current friendly so am looking for a portable one that won't trip my breakers but will do the job needed. Thx.

A: The 2 gallon Mastercraft is great for inflation and light brad nailing. If you want to do more than that, you will need a compressors that supplies more SCFM. You need to look at the SCFM required for the tool and make sure the SCFM offered from the compressor meets or exceeds the tool requirement.

Q: Would that be sufficient to empty an underground sprinkler system ?
1 Answer
A: There are many types of sprinkler systems, it is hard to answer without knowing the system requirements. The 058-1289 is 100 max PSI and less than 1CFM at 90PSI. It is most likely too small to do an adequate job.
