Buy name brand - failed after a few uses

The Mastercraft staple failed after using it a few times. I don't suppose that the lifetime warranty on Mastercraft tools extends to this tool? Since we live some distance from the nearest store, I now have to wait for a name brand stapler to arrive in the mail.

Great for odd jobs!

This staple gun is not a professional gun, it's meant for the odd jobs. I use mine to fix things like clothes dressers drawers or to build small projects. It's perfect for this use. I do have a couple of complaints about it, mostly that it's got a staple depth adjustment knob which doesn't really work (there is almost unnoticeable difference between the shallow/deep maximum positions) you have to adjust the compressor's PSI output to really see a difference in staples depth.
Also, it's stated as requiring 7/32 narrow crown staples (like Bostitch) but it works just fine with 1/4 staples (You can buy #058-8464, #058-8465, #058-8466, #058-8467)
all in all, if you use it for the odd job, this staple gun is perfect for the price.

Q: How do you load it? when I fire I get a little dimple where a staple should be. I can shake the tool and hear the strap of staples bouncing up and down. AM I missing something, or should these be locked in place as soon as I close the magazine?

A: Load staples on the rail when magazine is open, beneath the handle. The instructions are incomplete on staple loading, I had the same problem until two tech support calls, which did not help at all. Make sure to oil it with 5 drops of oil before using.

Q: The manual says to use 7/32" crown staples. Canadian Tire doesn't appear to sell 7/32 but does sell 1/4" crown staples. Can this stapler use the 1/4" staples?

A: We do not carry 20-gauge staples. The Mastercraft Air Stapler can work with both 7/32” or ¼” wide staples (1/2” to 1” in length)
