Used for first time and very impressed. With the fall cool weather and some wind it took awhile to get the oil temp up to 325°F with burner on high once we dropped turkey into pre-heated oil and the temp dropped.
Learned that it is very easy to overcook the turkey deep frying as opposed to oven roasting. When checking the internal temp after 45 minutes for a 15# bird it was 20°F lower than desired so put back in for 10 minutes and it was then 20°F higher than desired. The turkey was still very moist and good but next time I will check temperature every few minutes when it is getting close.
Burner timer kicks off burner every 15 minutes, set phone timer for 13 minutes and reset before.
So nice to only take an hour to cook instead of the typical 3+ hours...

Disappointed as when we used it the one and only time to boil corn the pot lost its coating inside. Have had in the past and have never had this happened before. Not sure it is safe to use. Wont be using it again

A: This product like any other, does not come with a crystal ball, but you could always register and sign up to know "if" it goes on sale to be notified in the future, just like all other wonderful Canadian Tire products. At the current price, I'd recommend asking for it as a gift or saving up a few extra coffee cup expenses. ait is well worth the price it's at compared to all the other places that either, don't have this product type, or those that don't have it in this wonderfully large size. :)

Q: Is there a way to bypass the timer? I use mine alot for boiling water for long periods of time, but that timer makes things a little tedious.

A: The timer is part of the critical safety components for this appliance and already certified by CSA, if user improperly repaired, altered, or tampered with or subject to misuse, abuse, it could result in fire or explosion which could cause property damage, personal injury or death. The warranty of this appliance will be invalidated due to such situation.

Q: What do you use for a basket to do fish and chips or anything small, where it doesn't come with one anymore?

A: This fryer doesn’t include the strainer basket but you can buy the similar basket on the market – proper size of the basket is no bigger that 9.5” Dia. x 12” H.

Q: Can I cook using a frying pan or something similar over the burner rather than using the big pot? I am thinking this would work well for camping as well.

A: Never use a cooking vessel larger than 30 qt (28.3 L) or with a diameter greater than 11 3/4" (29.8 cm) and taller than 15 1/2" (39.4 cm).
