Contact cement, the name is misleading

Purchased this product to fix a loose shoe sole. Totally useless, this is more like a rubber cement to temporarily glue paper together. Did they label it wrong?
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: It would not be a good choice as it will stick but not last long the proper product for vinyl is called HH66 i hope this helps

Q: Need to repair a ripped tarp and plan to use this to adhere one spare portion of tarp to the one needing repairs. This is an outdoor application. Will this cement work?

A: You may want t0 test on a piece of the patch first to see if solvent in glue damages it It does work fine in hard plastic.

A: Thank you for your question. The LePage Pres-Tite Contact Cement Adhesive with Brush, 250-mL is a solvent based product and therefore would be "toxic". It is important to read all warnings printed on the can before using and refer to the products SDS/MSDS for any further concerns.

Q: Can this product adhesive to wood and be painted on the vertical face of rough cedar? What kind of preparation on the object before applying this product? Can it be used for outdoor and what are the max high and low temp. the product can withstand for?

A: The LePage Heavy Duty Contact Cement is for bonding two substrates together. The temperature of the adhesive, the surfaces being bonded and the working area should be between 18°C (64°F) and 25°C (77°F). Surfaces must be clean, dry, free of paint or other coatings, grease, dust and other contaminants and irregularities. Pre-fit all materials, as bonding will be immediate upon contact. To improve adhesion to very smooth or glossy surfaces, roughen by sanding lightly. The contact cement is not recommended for exterior use but once fully cured can withstand temperatures of -40°C (-40°F) to 70°C (158°F).

A: Thank you for the question. It possible with the understanding this product is designed for laminating flat and close mating surfaces. For the project you have described it may not be the best suited. Other products to consider would be the LePage 100% Glue, LePage Stik’N Seal Outdoor Adhesive, LePage PL Premium MAX, or possibly one of the LePage Epoxies which offers faster set and cure times

Q: Will this adhere to Rubber? Does anyone know if this product would work on Rubber. I need to glue rubber to a piece of acrylic, and I wondered if this would do the trick?

A: LePage Pres-Tite Contact Cement with Brush, 250ml will bond rubber and some plastic laminates. It may damage some hard plastics, test small area before using, During drying solvents may affect plastic surfaces.
