Broke off the pedestal while accelerating from stop

I’ve had the seat about a year and a half and it’s reasonably comfortable however today while accelerating from a stop, the entire seat broke off the pedestal, putting me on my back into the boat. I only weigh about 150 pounds. A potentially dangerous situation, but I was wearing the recommended wrist kill switch. The seat was mounted on a recommended pedestal.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Has the weak hinge problem with these seats been solved? I don't want to install 3 or 4 of them and then find out the hinge connection between the backrest and the seat breaks as reported by a number of buyers.

Q: what parts are supposed to come with this seat Purchased Nov 23; last one in stock but box was open. Seat is intact and has a bag with 4 screws, but no mounting instructions. Will be buying the clamp-on swivel base. Should there not be a mount for it?
