Infuriating

Bought for my 8 year old who loves spaceships and being creative with them. The concept of a set that enables a kid to come up with many different builds is great. Unfortunately, the mandatory app and digital instructions, as well as the silly build-to-a-story concept ruined the experience. My son skipped all the videos, had no interest in the story and just wanted to build the base ship model. I understand LEGO wants to embrace digital technology, but please, don't force apps and stories on us. Provide physical instructions for the base model and the various accessories while letting the kids go to Youtube or something if they want to watch a story.

Not worth it

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my great nephew who is almost 5. There were literally no instructions for this. You have to use the lego app and the instructions there are still terribly vague. Not worth the time, money or headache. Worst lego purchase ever. So disappointed

Needs option besides app

Can only access instructions through an app that is not compatible with kids fire tablet. Other Lego apps are on the fire tablet so I did not verify compatibility and gave this to my son for Christmas. Now he cannot build it. At least Lego could have an optional instruction PDF available on the website to download but they don't... If more Lego sets go this way for building instructions, I'll save a ton of money since we will not purchase them

Excellent for encouraging creativity

Since my son received this as a Christmas present he's played through the missions several times each time taken the space ship apart building the space ship a different way. It was the Christmas present he kept coming back to. The missions have really encouraged him to not just build as per a set of instructions but to really make the spaceship his own. It's reminded me of the alternative ideas for sets that used to be on the back of Lego sets boxes when I was a child. He's also enjoyed being able to rotate the images of the build in the app. He liked this one so much that I got him the other two mission sets.

This set is just great! I love how you can make the set with a story and make your own custom ship and at the end you can make extra things with the spare parts. Just one thing, If you make more put more character faces and hair in so there’s more of a custom figure feel.
