This was a direct replacement for a previous skillet that lasted several years (of 3-4 time per-week usage) before the non-stick coating wore out in one spot almost dead-centre. (probably from metal utensils despite VERY occasional usage. Otherwise this skillet is excellent for stir-fries, casseroles etc, and various other "one pot" meals. Sadly the handles and lid knob are not oven-proof- but feel free to pay more for a skillet with that feature.

Q: It sais 350 in the oven , but can you put the heat at maximum on the oven, when cooking things ? In other worda is it because of the handle or the non stick material that it has a such low limite

A: It is not the handle nor the non-stick material. This pan is made of sensitive material. I had a previous one, used it on the stove element, set the temperature between medium and high. The pan warped on the bottom and caved in on one side. Got rid of it and bought a new one on sale. Now I only use it with temperature set between low and medium. Use too much heat and it will destroy your pan. If you cook with high heat, get a good cast iron pan. Preferably on sale. Good luck.

Q: This is for the ticino lagostina deep pan. It says oven proof but the handle is plastic. How can I put a plastic handle pan in the oven?

A: The handle says it's made from Phenolic. I googled that, and it says that even the older Phenolic is good to 390 degrees, the newer Phenolic is good up to 500 degrees. You may want to be safe and just go up to 350.

Q: I just purchased the Lagostina Ticino jumbo cooker 5-qt. I noticed the bottom appears to be concave, raised in the middle. The olive oil does not sit in the middle of the pan and goes off to the sides due to the concave shape. Is this shape by design?
