    No good

This product does not work on gas powered Kaercher power washers (Quote from a Kaercher technician) as the pump runs on high rpm's and for that reason fails to suck the fluid into the pump as you pull the starter. Also, after only a small portion of the liquid is drained into the machine, a small "vacuum" is created in the bottle, preventing more fluid to drain into the pump housing. Save your money. It appears that Briggs offers a pressurized bottle, this could work.

Bottle cracked at neck and leaked

when I squeezed the bottle the fluid squirted out from a crack in the neck. Returned bottle for the more reliable Pump saver Briggs and Stratton brand, and it was cheaper too

Q: Has anyone figured out how to use Karcher Pump Guard with a Karcher K2000? It says disconnect the hose but it doesn't look designed to do so.

    2 Answers
    • A: Dear Canadian Tire Customer, thanks for the question. Karcher’s Pump Guard is designed to lubricate and protect the internal pump during the winter season. Simply disconnect the garden hose water supply and attach the bottle to the pressure washer instead of the garden hose then run the pressure washer for a few seconds to draw the solution through the pump. Please see the product label for more detailed instructions. Hope this helps! Karl, Karcher Customer Care Team

Q: When is the best time to use the pump guard?

    • A: In addition – if you are not planning on using your pressure washer through the season you may want to use the pump guard. The main purpose of the pump guard is the antifreeze which protects your pump from damages due to freezing, but there are also special lubricants that keep your pump seals lubricated which prolongs the life of the pump.

Q: The Karcher Pump Guard bottle contains 16 fluid Ounces. How many typical uses are in a bottle?

    1 Answer
    • A: How many uses you get out of it depends on how efficient you are at using it- if you let a bunch of excess run out through the pump, you might only get 2 uses, but if you fill the pump and stop fairly quickly, you can probably get 3 or 4 uses out of a bottle. You’re basically just filling the pump with the product, and the pump doesn’t hold more than a few ounces of water. Customer should be filling the pump only, not the hose and gun.

Q: We have well water with the typical calcium/lime content. Will this Karcher Pump Guard dissolve or otherwise keep the nozzle and other parts free of the minerals? Should some vinegar or CLR be added to the product to neutralize the lime?

    1 Answer
    • A: Regarding hard water content, Pump Guard will not dissolve or otherwise help with mineral content, and I wouldn’t combine Pump Guard with CLR or vinegar. They could run some white vinegar into the pump separately in the same manner as the pump guard and let it sit for a day or so to help break down deposits, though if they’re doing that I’d recommend doing it really frequently to avoid an actual piece of debris coming free and clogging up the pump. In general, the only part I’ve heard of having issues with mineral content is the unloader valve on gas units and the Dirtblaster on electrics.
