Great 6x9 crispy sound

I buy these edition to my 4 jbl gto 609c I didn't install them in the car yet but I hook it up to my receiver. Which is Harman kardon avr 1710s used it on stereo mode. After breaking it in after 4 hours of playing I start pushing power on the speakers. Very nice bass. I play with the bass control to see what is the respond on the speakers. They hit nice bass. Very nice vocals also When you push the -db button by the tweeters makes a huge difference on the tweeter. You get very ear iching tremble which i like. Nice quality all around. I am gonna push mostly mid bass on these I have the s3 1224 for the deep bass. You can never have to much speaker

Yes, I recommend this product.

Great Speakers for the price.

I installed these speakers into my 2009 Sierra in boxes under the rear seats with the tweeters facing up. I purchased the basic 6 x 9 boxes and they fit near perfect under the seat securely. I have a 40 watt 10 year old Sony amplifier turned all the way up and these speakers scream. Due to the size of the little 12 x 12 boxes, the bass is nothing to really brag about but the mids and highs are as good as it gets. I plan on following up the 6 x 9's with a pair of JBL 12's to get the bass I need to compensate for them. I can tell you that the sound is amazing, No popping or tweeter squeeling. These speakers will not disappoint. I could easily add my kicker 300 amp to them but they are plenty loud enough with the 40 watts behind them. I must also mention that I am still using my stock stereo. With an aftermarket unit and added EQ, these speakers could be fined tuned to perfection. Spend the extra money and get them. ROCK ON JBL. ROCK ON.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: How do I get these speakers to sound good with the factory monsoon system in my 2005 Pontiac grand prix GT

  • A: Although it is not necessary, you may use an amplifier that has a power output of 200 watts per channel or less to boost up the audio output as the GTO939 can handle 200 watts of RMS power handling.

Q: Got the GTO939s to replace the backs in a 2007 Toyota Camry w/ JBL audio. The speaker adapters I had with the current require a separate hookup for woofer & tweeter (4 wires/not 2). Asking where to splice the 4 wire to this speaker or find new harness?

Q: Do I need a crossover if I'm installing 2 GTO939's with a standard car stereo 50 watts?

Originally posted on jbl.com

  • A: JBL GTO 939 requires a crossover. The outer pair of terminals is where you will wire the speakers from the amp/head unit. The other pair that is located inner, those are wired to the tweeters, with its internal crossover. It will be wired out of the box. The crossover's purpose is to divide the frequencies to make an accurate sound. High notes go to tweeters, mid to low ends go to woofers, and so on. It does not relate to power/wattage. If you crank up your factory car stereo that runs only 50 watts, you may get the speakers playing distorted audio and can cause potential harm, resulting in a blown speaker. It's okay to use the GTO939 if you only listen at low volumes, but if you wanted to get more volume and potential from the speakers, get a more powerful amp, one that can put out 100 Watts RMS per channel. The results will be a lot better.
