A: The Container Lid can be easily modified to allow the Lid to be removed. See my review on the Canadian Tire's Container Sale page as to how to modify the Lid Hinge Pin to allow the Lid to be easily removed for Local Pickup Rules and to be reinstalled to keep Varmint s out.

A: What I can confirm is that this bin is built and compatible for garbage trucks. If we look at the city of Halifax, from what we understand, is that at this moment, they are still working with bags for garbage and accept certain kind of bins. They do accept certain kinds of bins : Here are what they accept for bins : There are rules for garbage cans, too. Metal or plastic garbage cans that you put out for collection: • must have handles and a secure cover • be between 46–76 cm in height • have a diameter between 38–51 cm • when full, cannot weight more than 34 kg and here is the link of the City’s website if customer wants more info : https://www.halifax.ca/home-property/garbage-recycling-green-cart/garbage-collection when empty, this bin weight 20 lbs do have a secure cover as for the handles, they are on the cover… so cannot be lifted by the handles… in the hope that this will help,
