it's fine for a kayak I think. I bought it for a paddle board and it doesn't push enough water and isn't tall enough, fine for sitting but not standing. otherwise its firm and works well

I bought this paddle for canoeing. First trip the aluminum shaft bent, the next trip the plastic paddle itself broke completely off. Glad I had a spare paddle for the remainder of trip.
