Strong running weed eater

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've owned the 128LD for a year and a half now and it runs great and has never left me down. Runs strong and is very well balanced.
Yes, I recommend this product.

What possessed me to buy a second one? Awful!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought one 5 years ago that lasted about 40 hours. It was hard to start and would only run for a few minutes. I took it under warranty to the nearest dealer where it sat for 5 months. They replaced the Carb and told me it was fine but it still worked poorly. A small engine mechanic elsewhere diagnosed the issue - the original spark plug had disintegrated and part of it had fallen into the engine making it worthless. I had to trash the whole unit. It was awesome when it worked, but the warranty is worthless. They assume you put bad gas in it, make you wait forever on parts, and don't fix the real issue. 5 years later I've purchased another to give them a second chance but I don't have high hopes.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Worked great until it didn't

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought a few years ago and used only recommended Husqvarna pre-mix fuel and used for average yard maintenance at my home. One day it stopped working and found out that there was significant piston scoring despite following all guidelines.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Great power!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased mine several years ago. I use it regularly, without fail. It starts up as instructed and runs great. It’s a beast in comparison to other brands.
The only drawback I can speak of, is the need to constantly clean the spark plug. It has a tendency to bog down a little, causing me to rev the throttle a couple times to get up to cutting speed. It’s not a big deal, but sometimes annoying.
Q: What exact model is this? I am looking into a Husqvarna gas trimmer that is compatible with various Husqvarna attachments (pole saw, broom, etc.)

A: Hi mine is Husqvarna 128 LD, it starts and runs like a dream, lots of power, I just finished blasting through the yard at the cottage 2ft high tough weeds with the string trimmer it comes with. I have all of the Trimmer Plus attatchments, they all work fantastically on this machine, I got everything at CT and I got a brush cutter attatxhment at my local thrift store for 5 bucks. Very happy with this set up!
A: Hi Joshmc22,
Trimmer Plus attachments will work with this trimmer.
Thank you.

Q: Husqvarna 28cc straight shaft trimmer in the directions says there is a wing nut to be used with the bolt to hold the guard in place. We checked two trimmers at the store and both did not include the wing nut. Is it required?

A: Hi Brent,
A wing nut is not essential, as long as there is a regular bolt and a nylock nut. The wingnut is just for easy removal.

Q: Is it better to use high test fuel? I ran it for 15 minutes and it just died.

A: Hi wantittowork. Per your user manual, the engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline. You should always use high quality fuel. The lowest recommended octane rating is 87. If you run the engine on lower octane rating than 87, so-called ‘knocking’ may occur, leading to an increased engine temperature, which can result in a serious engine breakdown. When working at continuous high revs, a higher octane rating is recommended. The machine is equipped with a two-stroke engine and must always be run using a mixture of gasoline and two-stroke engine oil. It is important to accurately measure the amount of oil to be mixed to ensure that the correct mixture is obtained (refer to your manual for required mix ratio). When mixing small amounts of fuel, even small inaccuracies can drastically affect the ratio of the mixture. Thank you so much for choosing Husqvarna for your outdoor power equipment needs.

Thanks for any assistance...

A: Hi Carling. I believe this is a 2-cycle trimmer, but I can't guarantee it. I don't see our actual model # anywhere on the Canadian Tire website, so I'm not sure what model it is. Sorry!

Q: How much does it weigh? Does it have a shoulder harness?
1 Answer
A: The trimmer weights 11.11 lbs. There is not a place to attach a harness to the trimmer. Harnesses are typically used on larger brush-cutters with the “bull horn” type handles.
