Durable, compact, lightweight. Bought it to be an emergency shovel in the car for the winter. I looked at others, but they seemed to be a bit flimsy for moving snow and ice and then found this one at a clear out price. Original price would seem to be a bit high, around $100, but when on sale, or at the price I paid, good value.

Probably one of the Best Avalanche shovels

I have been using an HMK shovel for years now and I have done a ton of digging with it in Avalanche courses and while out getting unstuck and building jumps for skiers snowboarding and sleds. It is durable and has been easy to assemble and disassembles easily as well. It fits perfect in my snow pulse packs shovel holder and I generally never ski or sled without it. I have built snow caves with it and I unstuck my truck with it many times as well. I broke the compass on the Handel banging snow off my ski boots. But it doesn’t effect the shovel.
