Great self closing hinge

a year ago

A self closing hinge that gets the job done. I I’m had a new door installed to my garage and instead of installing one of those ugly door closing bars, I opted for two of these hinges. They close my door perfectly without having to have an unsightly pneumatic closing bar.

Very efficient hinge under low winds. Put 2 of them on a 4x4 gate and works but a little pricey

Q: Is this a positive or negative closing hinge? i.e. pushes closed, or pulls closed?

2 Answers

A: You manually tension it with an allen key then pop a metal pin in to set the tension. You can tension it both ways so as long as the hinge fits your door you'll be fine.

Q: I recently bought these, and they have started to sag by 1/8” due to free play on the pin/hinge wearing out. Are these parts serviceable?

A: Use a screwdriver to tighten it a bit more. The spring wears out over time.
