GOOD STRONG BOLT

Heavy duty bolt. Used with one-inch washers to secure 2x4's together, four per joint for good measure. Result is strong, reliable joint. 3.5 inch bolt length protrudes bit less than half inch from wood, leaving sufficient length for washers and nut, but doesn't stick out enough to be obtrusive. Highly recommended for wood projects.

Smooth Threads, Good Value When Purchasing a Box

I bought a box of 5/16" x 1" fully threaded zinc plated hex bolts. For the amount I needed, buying the whole box was comparable in price to how many I needed, but now I have lots of extras. I used them for an interior project so can't comment on corrosion resistance. The threads are smooth and compatible with the Hillman nuts.

They fit the hole and haven't broken yet. one tip, fit each bolt with the nuts and washers you plan on using, Some people like to throw random hardware into random bins in the bulk section.
