These joint connectors, commonly known as cam nuts, help make building flat-pack furniture a cinch. Inserted into pre-drilled holes, they mate with dowels screwed into another piece of the assembly. Once tightened with a Phillips screwdriver, the cam nuts lock the dowel securely in place. Not as robust as they need to be

The cam locks had a tendency to shear before they closed all the way. They weren't strong enough to overcome a bow in the plywood.
