Heritage Farms Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder

Trois jours suite à l'installation, nous avons retrouvé un écureuil confortablement installé dans la mangeoire; il avait déjoué le système et était entré par le toit de la mangeoire. En ce qui concerne les oiseaux, quelques espèces seulement vont s'alimenter à cette nouvelle mangeoire (mésanges, pour la plupart). Article aussi joli qu'inefficace!

For the expensive price of this bird feeder, it is totally NOT worth it! By the 2nd winter squirrels were already very adept at getting the seeds AND they had already begun destroying the feeder. In less than 2 years I threw out over $100 worth of this kind of feeder when they were thoroughly destroyed. I do NOT recommend this product at all.

I have mine hanging from hook. My squirrels figured it out within days. They would climb down the hook onto the roof and either go around the side hanger and hang from the moveable bottom bar or they would hang from the hanger bar at top with their back feet as they stretched their body over the roof overhang and eat from the feeder that way. We tried many addons to this feeder and finally stopped the squirrels from stealing seed. We had to put tin on top of the roof that extended at least 6 inches out from roof overhang. We also added big plastic pop bottles around the hook. That doesnt't stop them from climbing down the hook but it's a good combination with the tin on the roof. A little more deterrent to make it harder for them. It doesn't keep the rain out either. Food gets soaked everytime it rains. It would be a great product if they added more overhang for the roof. on the sides and the front. They have to make their product so the squirrels can't hang onto the top hanger bar, because that is how they are getting into the feeder. Great product except for a few faults. Can easily be made better with few minor improvements. I would recommend buying, but it with a caveat. You have to addon to the roof if you want to stop squirrels, because as is, it won't stop the squirrels.

less than a year after purchasing, the squirrels managed to chew the tabs on the plastic window insert allowing them to push the plastic in, gaining access to the seed inside. It is not a Heritage Farms feeder as listed as, when I tried to see about a replacement window, they told me it's not one of theirs. I have since contacted the company listed on the box to see if it can be fixed. If not, I think I will try a Heritage Farms squirrel proof feeder. They look like they might work.
