Good heavy pot, nice thick walls, looks like a professional pot you would see in a restaurant kitchen. Will outlast me and will probably end up being handed down a few generations.

My new handy pot

This pot worked well for simmering our 12 quarts of spaghettis sauce. There was no sticking onto the bottom. Sadly, the handles become very hot as there is no insulating material on the handles.

A: I should be okay for as long as the fire doesn't get too hot. A wood fire ranges from 400 to 565 degrees Celcius, and aluminum melts at 660 degrees Celcius!

Q: La description de vos chaudrons et marmites laisse à désirer. Les dimensions alternent entre les pouces et les millimetres et "métal" pour la description des poignées font que soi je vais me rendre au magasin pour constater moi même ou acheter ailleurs.

A: Allo, j'ai acheté cette marmite récemment pour faire des "grosses batches" de recettes pour mes conserves (betteraves marinées, soupes, ...). Le métal des poignées est le même aluminium que le reste du chaudron (et le couvercle) et étonnament ne chauffe pas trop vite (je n'ai pas eu besoin de mitaines ou de serviettes pour déplacer le pot). Je ne sais pas quoi te dire pour les dimensions car moi aussi je ne comprends pas pour quoi qu'ils indiquent le système impérial comme s'il était métrique (c'est quoi 0,92 pieds!? 11 pouces?, 10 3/4? Est-ce que la mesure a été convertie à partir du métrique ou l'inverse? Laquelle est plus fiable?). Cela dit, il est suffisamment grand pour y submerger 5 des plus gros pots maçon ou une dizaine d'épis de maïs. Je sais que ma réponse est tardive mais j'espère que cela t'aide.

Q: Will the taste change if I cook tomatoes or other acidic items? I want to make tomato based soups, but don't want the flavour negatively affected. Should I go to a stainless steel product instead?

A: Aluminum stock pots are not recommended to cook acidic products like tomatoes, it can cause pitting corrosion. We recommend to avoid prolonged exposure and/or storage of these foods in the cookware.
