Handy but not hearty
a year ago
After reading reviews I'm concerned with battery and / or motor life longevity and staying power. I've only tried it out once and convenience is great. But not a lot of power. Meant to be handy small job saw but large jobs will need a biggerc(likely gas?) Saw. Wait n see. The lithium battery life hopefully will be better than past reviews. Not convinced yet.

Nice light saw

I have had this saw for quite a few years now, probably an earlier version but it is labeled the same. I love it. It is light and easy to use and virtually no maintenance other than the same chain sharpening that is required on all saws. It's not a pro saw. I wouldn't want to use it to saw chords of wood on a daily basis, but for backyard use and homeowner wood cutting for a stove or furnace, it is great. I can get quite few small trees cut up on a battery, or a single larger (10 inch) tree felled and chopped up. You would need a few batteries for a chord of wood properly cut to length for firewood unless the wood was super dry softwood.
The bar is a bit too flexible where it fastens to the saw. It seems loose, even when it isn't. This does cause some run-out on larger cuts, but it isn't a big issue overall.
I like my saw and how quiet it is. You don't need to keep it running when you set it down. No gas to store. I'd buy it again.

A Very Handy Saw With Surprising Capabilities

Canadian Tire is selling a newer version now, but I bought this saw 4 or 5 years ago and it has served me well. After years of using a gas powered chainsaw, an electric chainsaw is a delight. No mixing gas and oil, no difficulty with starting, little vibration, very little noise and the saw is light and easy to handle. And, it stays much cleaner than a gas chainsaw. The claim that the saw can cut a cord of wood or 100 4 x 4s is absurd though. I recently cut up a 24" diameter stump and used 3 fully-charged batteries to do the job. If you have to cut wood all day, a gas chainsaw is the way to go, but for all other jobs this saw works like a charm!

Ca fait 5 ans que je l’ai et elle va très bien encore. Je m’en sert moins souvent car j’ai 2 autres Poulin de 16 et 14 pouces a gaz. Par contre, elle est plus lente que ceux a gaz mais moins brouillante.

Q: How much for battery and charger? This is useless without battery and charger which is apparently not included. So how much more money to get something that can actually be used? And how long will a charge last. Also how long to charge the battery?
