Karl’s disappointing mower purchase

Original mower only lasted 14 months. Could not replace same model as no longer made. Had to upgrade to get a refund for my initial purchase price and pay another $270. First mower under powered and just stopped running. No parts available to repair.

40V Greenworks Lawnmower

Works quite well on the difficult areas in my yard. Battery lasted a satisfactory time. Should not be used for longer grass it uses up too much battery power. I’m satisfied it does all the areas I bought it for. I bought the 40V because I had a 40V leaf blower and I thought I could exchange batteries, however, the batteries are not the same in size and the numbers on the batteries are not the same. Buying a second battery is quite expensive and that is why I gave it only four stars.

Q: Can I ask if this 40V battery can be used in a Greenworks tool that I am thinking of buying, driven by a 20V battery? What does V mean here, refer to voltage or power storage?

A: 40v is 40 volt and will not work with other voltage units. I am not happy with the fact I buy a 40v lawn mower and expect to buy other products with the 40v and Canadian tire looks like they have gone away from the 40v to a higher Voltage system. So I guess run this until it quits and then scrap it

A: Hello Bryan, The mower comes with a four year warranty on the mower, and a two year warranty on the battery and charger. Here's a snippet from our manual: "GreenWorks at our own discretion will repair or replace any and all parts found to be defective, through normal use with the exception of any part that has become inoperative due to misuse, commercial use, abuse, neglect, accident, improper maintenance, or alteration."

Q: The mower actually smoked after using if for about 15. Removed the battery but don’t see any black or indication of something burnt. Nervous to retry
