Good peat moss

Perfect for spring or late summer/early fall lawn reseeding. More woodchips than I would prefer. But very easy to rake over the lawn as a top dressing. Helped grow back the lawn after the summer drought. Perfect to support spring or late summer/early fall grass reseeding. Works great in the gardens too.

NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE

I have bought this product for many years & was disappointed with my last purchase. The peat moss had a lot of sticks & chunks of wood, was dense, the color was very dark & resembled ground up yard waste as opposed to the light brown, fluffy product of the past. This almost needs to be screened before use. I would not pruchase this product again

Q: Is this peat moss treated to neutralize the PH? I'm looking to mix this with potting soil to lower the PH for acid loving plants. Is there a PH range for this product?

A: I’m not sure about the peat moss, but I lower ph with lemon juice in the water, which lowers the ph of my soil.

Q: would like to know the pH of this and how much dolomitic lime to add to bring it up a pH unit (or to around 6) Who to talk to ? there is absolutely no specs on the bag and I do not have a ph meter at the moment

A: Peat moss is harvested from many bogs and the PH level may vary. You would have to invest in a PH meter to get and accurate reading of the PH.
