Heavy duty???

Bought this auger in April/24, dug 3 holes worked fine, in April/25 dug 2 holes. Now July/25 need to dig 4 holes and on the second hole the auger breaks and is now useless. So if planning on digging 6 holes or less probably, ok. But one would expect the auger to last longer than 14 months and dig way way more holes.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Is the max size of the hole 6” or is it a 6” digger? Does the bottom spread apart at all to become 6” or is it just a lot bigger than the photo makes out?

A: It’s sort of like a scooping drill. It tapers from a point at the bottom, to a bit more than 6” at top. As you push down and crank it, it digs down and fills up the scoop, and you then lift it out and dump it, then repeat. It yields a solid 6.5-7 inch hole at least, depending on how loose the soil is. Small size sonotube fits like a glove. It will last forever, and everyone that borrows it will want one. Much lower impact than any other form of digging, there’s that factor too…

Q: What is the width of the head? (Ie: what size of hole will it auger?)

A: It will dig a 6” hole. Just something to note; if it hits a small stone it will just spin on top of it. I thought it would be easier to dig a hole with it but you are better off using a shovel and a long bar

Q: Can't see anything in the description to the size of the hole - will this do an eight inch hole for a 4x4 post with a sono?

Q: I like this hole digger, however I don't understand why the handle is not at least 4 feet long. Any post hole should be at least 4 ft deep for preventing frost heaving. I like this product otherwise.
