I bought two kinds of bags to use with the hand held sealer. The bags with the black circle are the best.

Even after having been over the instructions over and over and over these don't stay sealed. I think I figured out the problem: When I run my fingers across the seal, it "pops" a little just like fabric that's gotten its grain a little messed up. I think the cross-hatch design gives the plastic a "grain" and, like sewn objects with a diagonal grain, the plastic just doesn't sit straight enough for the zippers to lie perfectly horizontal. They appear to seal at first, but there's apparently some tiny misalignment that lets air out over the next few days. Invested tons of time and money into cooking, freezing, and bagging and everything is coming unsealed, we have to reseal everything every few days. I'm sealing already frozen cubes of food, taking care to not let anything touch the zipper, I've even made sure to wipe the zipper with terry cloth, I use the little black thing, I check it over and over. I've had a wee bit of success taking one that keeps coming unsealed, and opening it and resealing it over and over until there's no "pop" when I run my pinched fingers across it. It takes on average 6 tries per bag, and even then isn't fully successful. Add to that, they don't reseal well once they've been turned inside-out (which I feel is crucial to sanitizing between uses, otherwise you could get water and bits of food growing in the inside crevices) ... Plus they're very hard to open lacking the "tab" in the middle like nicer freezer bags. They're really no better than plain zipper freezer bags which a person finagles into having no trapped air, in terms of ease of use and successful sealing, and the cost is astonishingly high.

Great bags. They hold the seal well. And they can be reused.
