Unrepairable but works well untill it tangles.

This thing worked well for a long time and was comfortable and easy to use but, it did eventually tangle on me, not to be unexpected on one of these types of retractable leashes. The problem is it is made to be unfix-able. It could just as easily have been made with normal small screws. In place of screws they put these little things that look like a double ended screw (sort of) and these little barbed bits of metal are first press into one side of the plastic housing and then the other side of the housing is pressed to the first half. I managed to force a screwdriver between the two halve and get them to separate. Once this was done, unraveling the knot inside was trivial and I now have a leash again that will likely go a few more years. Shame on the manufactures. This is actually more difficult to manufacture than if it were made with screws that would allow repair.
No, I do not recommend this product.

My favourite leash system

I have had these leashes before. They are a high quality and virtually unbreakable. The liquidation of this particular model was a happy coincidence as I needed a new one for my dog and my gf’s Pyrenees…

Great for the price

Compared to the one it replaced at more than twice the price, the spring is a bit weak so has to be coerced to retract sometimes and the slot a bit wide for the strap so it folds over and gets stuck once in awhile so doesn't retract. The picture must be for a small dog size leash, the large dog size is strap all the way. Let's see how long this one last and may or may not just get another one the same.

Q: This leash comes in three different sizes Small Medium and Large I'm confused as to what that means exactly? Are each of those sizes 16 ft long? Or is the Small size, smaller? (for example, only 6 or 10 feet long?) What does S,M or L mean for this item?

A: I have the small for my 10lb chow and it’s 16feet and good up to 15lbs or so. The medium would be for a medium dog and the large for a large dog.
