Everlast Leather Jump Rope With Wooden Handles, 9.5-ft

Not suitable for novice skippers. The rope is too light to maintain momentum, not pliable enough to hold shape at lower speeds, and when you catch your feet it coils itself. I have marginal experience skipping rope, but my guess is the leather doesn't want to sit straight and the surface gets rough which causes it to slow down. The bearings are usable. Not buttery smooth, but that's expected at the price. Still, a $2 rope with no bearings I bought at Kmart while in Australia worked better than this. In order to use this effectively you will need to spin the rope at a higher rpm to maintain shape, which means quicker jump intervals, which means lower jumps, which means it is more likely to catch a foot. Because of the weight, I find it hard to feel where the rope is in order to maintain the speed. It needs some sense of slight resistance in order to feel when the hands are in time with the rope. Because the feeling is so vague, this causes my hands to either get ahead or behind the rope, which messes with the rhythm. I've done a lot of fly fishing in my life and have a feel for timing. This feels like trying to cast only leader and no weighted fly line. I have a hard time getting to the point of exhaustion because I am having to stop to untangle and restart skipping. I've never had close to the struggles with any other rope.

rope broke in less than 6 months by the handles.

Wow it is kinked up lightweight and far too long with no way to adjust it. I will be returning it as it is useless for someone other than 6 feet tall.
