NEED MAGNIFYING GLASS TO READ INSTRUCTIONS

I am sure the accutemp meat thermometer could be a very useful kitchen appliance - that is if one could read the instruction manual. Tried to use a magnifying glass but in the end threw the unused thermometer and totally inadequate instruction manual in the garbage bin. Please review instruction manual and use a print large enough for users to actually read !!!!!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Bad probe design. Do not buy. Probe fell apart

Sadly my experience was similar. This was unreliable and the probe was poorly designed. I have had it for a few months. After cooking a prime rib it refused to come out initially. I pulled again on the black handle of the probe and all the wiring and sensor came out destroying the probe. The metal tip was lodged in my roast after the probe fell apart. I eventually got it out but the probe was a total write off. There is no markings on the unit, contact information or model number to attempt to get a replacement probe.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Don't waste your money

Right off the bat right out the package you can tell that wire for the probe won't make it. It looks and feels exactly like one side of an ear phone cable. I was actually surprised it worked to do a steak on the bbq for about 8 mins. 2nd time i used it, made it about 2 mins in and crapped out.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Disappointing

I bought this for the Christmas meal I was preparing for the family. I was cooking a ham and a Turkey. It seemed to get to temperature earlier than I thought it should. I got out my 2 other old school meat thermometers to compare. It was reading about 10 degrees F. hotter than the old school thermometers. I have used it on 4 meals since and it generally reads 10 to 13 degrees F. hotter than the actual temp of the meat. Maybe I just got a dud. It looks like other reviewers have had good luck.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: I have this thermometer and used it never had any problems but now it seems to be showing an “LLL” beside where the temp is. And doesn’t read. Any ideas?

1 Answer
  • A: I have heard this is because the temp probe touched the element or something very hot and this wrecks the probe. I have had this problem with the last three thermometers I bought. Very frustrating and I haven’t found one that doesn’t do this.

Q: Can I used it to measure temperature of oil for deep frying? Can I leave the probe in the meat while it is in the oven? Is the cord is safe for oven use?

1 Answer
  • A: NOT designed to monitor deep frying. The probe sensor is designed to monitor Meat , poultry or thick fish, not liquids. The consumer should buy a dep fry thermometer for deep fry monitoring. The stainless steel probe and silicone wire are indeed oven safe. The probe is inserted into the meat or poultry and remains inserted during the entire cooking process.
