Great Chipper for the Size and Price

I recently purchased the DK2 3 in. 7 HP Gas Powered Kohler Engine Direct Drive Certified Commercial Chipper Shredder with Trailer Tow Hitch, and I couldn’t be more impressed with its performance and versatility. This machine has exceeded my expectations in every way. The 7 HP Kohler engine is a powerhouse, providing ample power to handle branches up to 3 inches in diameter with ease. It runs smoothly and starts up effortlessly every time, making yard work a breeze. However, I do try to keep the branches and “forks” less than 3”. The direct drive system ensures efficient and consistent shredding of smaller branches. It quickly reduces large piles of branches. The output is fine and uniform, which is exactly what I would need if I were composting. The build quality of this chipper shredder is outstanding. The heavy-duty steel frame and components are built to last, and it feels incredibly sturdy. The design is well thought out, and it can withstand the rigors of regular use without any signs of wear and tear. Some of the threaded nuts seemed to have stripped out and since I anticipate one or two being lost from falling out in the future, I ordered spare stainless steel nuts, bolts and washers from the Bolt Depot. The 1 7/8” trailer tow hitch is a fantastic feature, making it easy to transport the chipper shredder around my property behind my UTV. Whether I’m working in the front yard or the back 40, I can easily tow, saving me time and effort. The machine is surprisingly user-friendly. The hopper is designed to handle a variety of material sizes, and the chute allows for easy loading, just make sure you cut all forked branches. The controls are intuitive, and maintenance is straightforward with clear instructions provided in the manual, which is not provided, but available online. Safety is always a concern when working with powerful machinery, and the DK2 chipper shredder doesn’t disappoint. It comes with essential safety features like an emergency stop button and protective guards, giving me peace of mind during operation. I highly recommend a forestry safety helmet with a face guard and hearing protection. A flying branch tore my face shield and I can only imagine what it would have done to my face. Considering the performance, durability, and features of this chipper shredder, it offers excellent value for money. It has significantly reduced the time and effort required for yard maintenance, making it a worthwhile investment. Overall, the DK2 3 in. 7 HP Gas Powered Kohler Engine Direct Drive Certified Commercial Chipper Shredder with Trailer Tow Hitch is a top-notch piece of equipment. It combines power, efficiency, and durability, making it an indispensable tool for any homeowner or professional landscaper. Highly recommended!

From start to finish the ordering/delivery/assembly and set of the chipper was easy and efficient. It comes with clear instructions and all the tools needed, although a ratchet makes assembly quicker. The chipper has been at work for a little over a week now and initial observations are that the machine meets or exceeds my expectations. The chipper function can handle some fairly decent size pieces of wood. The shredder hopper has to be managed properly for materials to feed properly, but once you get the hang of it, all is good. I am hoping that the ongoing quality and durability are as positive as my initial impression. I will update you all in the future.

I bought this two weeks ago and it's completely broken already. The axel that holds the blade completely sheered off after chipping a few branches.

DK2 Chipper Shredder

Not as powerful as I expected but so far, engine performs ok. I can’t put anything bigger than 1 to 2 inches or it clogs, and bogs down. Already tried a 3 inch branch but it got jammed so 1st time use I had to remove chipper chute to remove the wood. Build quality is ok and it was simple to assemble with another person helping hold things up to thread nuts, bolts and washers in place. Kohler engine seems to be performing ok, we will see how it holds up.
