Q: would this be good for varmints e,g racoons woodchucks in my backyard max shooting distance about 10m

A: I wouldn't use these on a racoons or rabbits as smaller varmints like rats, squirrels and target practice although you could use them on grouse. Bigger would be better for the larger things as in .25 cal used in 900fps or higher.

Q: small game what can u hunt with these with pellet gun under 495fps

A: Under 495 is a little vague, you could hunt rabbits with a 22 Cal pellet rifle that has been chronographed at 495Fps within 10 meters as well as any smaller game but further you might just hurt the animal without killing it.
