Best BBQ.

After 5 years this has been the best bbq I have ever owned. Like all cast iron grates they need to be seasoned regularly so they don’t rust. Still going like new. Too bad they don’t make them anymore.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Disappointed

Purchased this a couple of years ago. Was excited to have the dual fuel option. The worst materials ever. Burners and grills have rusted and corroded. New ones were sent out and it happened again. The next replacement we had to pay for the parts and again it’s rusted it. The cost of these replacements it’s more cost effective to purchase a new one. I’m opting to buy a different brand with better warranty and stands behind their product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We're sorry to hear that you're having some issues with your Coleman Revolution BBQ!

The Burner material is 304 stainless steel, and the Cooking Grate are porcelain coated cast iron. While these materials were chosen for their durability and longevity, they do require some regular care and maintenance to assure you're getting the most out of your grill.

Tips for improving the life of your grill:
Seasoning Cooking Grates improves cooking performance, creates a non-stick surface for cooking, prevents damage and deterioration due to moisture and humidity, and extends the life of your Cooking Grates.

Avoid Flash-Back Fires, poor performance and pre-mature deterioration with regular
Burner checks and maintenance.

Directions for seasoning Cooking Grates and how to perform Burner checks and maintenance, can be found in your safe use and care manual. In the even that your safe use and care manual has been thrown away or misplaced, please don't hesitate to reach out to us by phone or email at: 1-855-275-4617 or support@colemanbbqs.com and we would be happy to email you a replacement.

Just a Chef and his BBQ

I am a Canadian Red-Seal Chef and I LOVE this BBQ. I have 20+ years in the culinary industry and when this was being discontinued by Canadian tire on an incredible clearance price, the timing couldn't be any more perfect to grab this! First I'll briefly mention my response to the negative reviews posted on this product based on my experience with years of food service equipment, both personal and commercial. While in extremely rare circumstances there are factory defects on products and/or missing parts, in my experience the cause for damage or defects is due to buyer neglect within the areas of care and maintenance. I HIGHLY recommend following the care guide in the instructions and doing research online to properly care for your BBQ so you don't run into these issues below. - The paint on any BBQ will peel if left unattended and the BBQ rises to extremely high temperatures. The paint will also fade and degrade if not covered properly after use, or left out in the sun (UV Damage) all the time. - Major flare-ups on BBQ's such as the one posted in a review for this BBQ is most likely due to the lack of cleaning and attention while cooking, and again, allowing the BBQ to reach extreme temps of 600F or higher. The most important maintenance is to remove the grills once every month, wipe them down, and clean out the bottom of the cooking chamber. - The charcoal burner should be turned off once the charcoal is lit. Not sure why anyone would want to leave it on and waste gas/propane for a charcoal cooker. - Can't comment on the warranty. I spent 4 hours building it as per the instructions included and everything works great. Onto my personal build and usage! THE BUILD - The box is big. There is a LOT of styrofoam and it will take approx. 4-5 hours if you carefully read the instructions. All parts were accounted for and required a minimum amount of tools. It looked beautiful once completed and everything worked smoothly i.e. doors, hinges, grill fit etc. It's worth it once it's done and will impress your guests. THE COOK - Since buying this I have used both the propane and charcoal side. I'll start with the charcoal. This has 3 vent controls for your cook. Two main vents below (ash catcher and wheel vent under charcoal), and one up top for smoke release. I have done beautiful pulled pork shoulders...10-12 hour cooks, off-set heat, and pleased many family members with the big BBQ chain restaurant quality of meats. It will take some practice to learn to get your cooking temps right if you don't have a lot of experience with a charcoal BBQ. As for the propane side, the grill system is awesome. I have experienced far less flare-ups and the bottom of the chamber under the burners is much easier to clean. The grills are beautiful. IF you properly season the grills as per the instructions, and use a non-steel grill brush, these will make moving items around so much easier without sticking. The engineering in the grills themselves are genius! The angled bottom of each rung will directly drip grease into a second level of grills, into a grease trough and finally into an easy-to-remove grease cup. The two layers of grills seem like overkill at first, but it saves time for cleaning and reduces flare-ups. The thermometer is calibrated beautifully and will quickly reach your desired temperatures. It holds heat incredibly well and doesn't take long to reheat when the lid is opened. Last thing about cooking, the available grill space is huge when you plan on using both sides at the same time. I can do complete meals outside when it's too hot in the house to turn on the oven, or you prefer to stay outside with your family/guests. RECOMMENDED ACCESSORIES - As mentioned earlier, care and regular maintenance are key in retaining the integrity of the BBQ. I recommend getting a BBQ cover to prevent UV, rain, and/or weather damage. Mine cost about $80 at Canadian Tire, due to the sheer size of the BBQ. It will greatly increase the longevity of the unit. I also recommend getting a set of charcoal baskets from Canadian Tire. I did find the charcoal grate near the burner to be a little too wide between the grids, and smaller pieces of lump charcoal would just fall through. By using the charcoal baskets you have a much more concentrated source of heat whether you are using direct heat for quick high-temp cooks, or indirect heat for long low-temp cooks. Overall, following the instructions and using common-sense will be your best advantages in enjoying this BBQ. Happy Grilling!

Yes, I recommend this product.

Beautiful barbecue, lots to assemble

This barbecue is very appealing! Lots of room to grill and nice to have the option of using the charcoal side! The box is very very heavy it comes in, and not eco friendly at all. Lots and lots of cardboard and have about 8 garbage bags full of styrofoam.. Also assembly takes a long time. So if you like building things this is the bbq for you. None of the parts were numbered. So all in all great bbq 5 stars but the assembly and garbage is what made me rate it three stars.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: We have space limitation. Can This BBQ used without the side trays and the grease cup on the side? Is there another way to attach the grease cup?

1 Answer
  • A: The flare-free grease cup and its ease of access on the right side shelf fascia is an essential part of this system and cannot be removed or moved. The Left side shelf table and extension, are not essential and can be removed. Additionally, the right side shelf extension table DH can also be removed.

Q: is there a gas model or only comes using propane?

  • A: Thank you for your question. The Coleman Revolution Dual Fuel is sold as a propane model, but as specified on the control panel, bears a Convertible Valve System logo, and therefore is convertible to Natural Gas. The Convertible Valve System KIT is sold at Canadian Tire stores. For more information on the Natural Gas Conversion Kit please visit our website at www.cvsbbq.com

Q: Can the charcoal side be used as a smoker?

1 Answer
  • A: Thank you for your question. Yes, with a little practice you can certainly use your Charcoal Cookout for smoking foods. If it is just the smokey flavor you are after, absolutely you can either add smoking chips to your lump charcoal, or position a smoker box on top of your grate during the duration of your cook. If the results you are after require low and slow cooking, for 1-3 hrs, the key will be managing temp and using indirect cooking. When cooking with Charcoal the key is to not overload the unit, with too much charcoal. Doing this will make your Cookouts temperature too hot at the outset. You will need to allow temperatures to stabilize before beginning your cook. It is best to add charcoal during the cooking process to maintain the temperature you are seeking. Hopefully this has been helpful. Best regards, Coleman BBQ Expert
