It was fairly easy to set up. Be sure your ground is level and well packed. I would suggest making a frame of treated 2x6 to go under the supports. The water was tricky to get cleared up as I’m on well water.

Pool is good, but the pump is offensively under-powered - it’s so bad that I think whoever greenlit the decision to include that model of pump is probably a bad person. I got an intex sx2100 sand filter/pump and an intex 28000E clip on skimmer and it has made a world of difference. Also, if you don’t want to have to maintain the chlorine level all season, see if you can find a chlorinator (e.g. intex cs8110) for cheap. Highly recommend a salt water conversion if you’re lazy, like me.

Q: Is the ground liner that comes with the Coleman 12 by 22ft above ground pool meant to protect the pool from weeds and sharp objects coming through the liner? Or is that a separate liner that I should be buying and laying down as well?

A: Its just a tarp. It wont stop sharp objects from going thru it and into the liner. I put 4* s of sand down first and it makes it safer.

A: I had a Coleman pool set up last year, we took it took because we did not like it. Our pump wasn't loud, you couldn't hear it inside, that's for sure and sometimes I couldn't even tell it was on especially at the beginning. You need to change to a 10,000 gallon filter pump and you won't have that problem.

Q: We just bought this pool and are wanting to prepare the area that it will be set up on. In answers to other questions Bestway has indicated what not to set it on. What is the best surface to set it up on.

A: We've had several pools in the past, and always just put in on top of grass, though we used a tarp underneath. Turns out the ground wasn't perfectly level, which always had me a little worried. Because of the design of this pool, it seemed to us that it is even more important for the ground to be level, so we hired a landscaping company to bring in sand to level the ground. We put a tarp on that and put the pool on top. Just filled up the pool and this will be our second year with it. When researching solutions I did see other people say not to use sand as it will wash away in rain, but we have not had that problem.

A: Hi Sally, Almost any completely flat, solid and level surface can be used. Do not use sand as leveling material as it is prone to shift under the pool. The ground should be dug out until it is perfectly level. Do not set up on driveways, decks, platforms, gravel or asphalt. The ground should be stable enough to withstand the weight and pressure of the water. Mud, sand, soft/loose ground and tar are not suitable. To avoid abrasions and tears in the liner, it’s recommended to not drag the pool across the surface. If the pool has to be set up on a lawn, it is recommended that the grass is removed from under and around. The grass will die and may cause odors/slime.
