Good value bike

I purchased this for my son as a graduation gift, and have had no reason to regret the purchase. Most of its use is rural roads, lots of up and down hills and gets a good workout from my active son. It's not the most expensive bike, but it suits our needs very well.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: How can I adjust ( raise ) the CCM Nitro XT handles?

2 Answers
  • A: You'll need an Allen key to unscrew the bolt in the middle of the handle bar and slightly unscrew the 2 on the side. Your handle bar should come off. The small black rings determine the height, so you will need to get 1 or 2 more. I think Canadian Tire sells these, but I got them elsewhere (around a dollar each). Mind you, after deciding to add another ring, my bolt reminded me of the quality of this bike and is now stuck. So please, only try once!

Q: What's the max weight it can support? I'm 6'6" and 370 lbs I'm not obese but I'm big and heavy. I love bike riding but I'm on a tight budget. Can this bite support my frame?

2 Answers
  • A: It could but the bearings in the wheel hubs and shocks will probably have a shorter shelf life as a result of the extra 170 lbs.

Q: should the gear make a ticking sound after they have been changed? I found all changes in Low gear were sound free but then it ticks in all changes made in the medium and high gears. Not sure if I should return it as I just took it out for first ride to check the gears and tags are still on.

2 Answers
  • A: There should be no ticking noice. Sounds like your bicycle needs a deraileur adjustment. Please take the bicycle back to the store for a adjustment.

Q: rear bike rack attachment? i need a rear bike rack for panniers to be able to attach to the column that the seat is affixed to.

  • A: I bought the Schwinn from CT which attaches to the seat post with a quick release. It holds about 20 lbs and comes with a hold down tie to carry other things as well. It has 4 slots on the sides for panniers.

Q: How can I find serial number ? I didn't write down my serial number for this bike.. how can I find out what the serial number was ? I just bought this bike ( 4 months ago) it was locked up and everything

1 Answer
  • A: The serial number is under the bottom bracket. That is the area under where the pedals/crank go into the frame. The best way to see the number is to turn the bicycle upside down. Reading this number on the bicycle is the only way to get the serial number.
